Tim Studt, MBA, has served in a variety of senior editorial positions at Advantage Business Media for more than 28 years, most recently as Editor-in-Chief of R&D Magazine and Laboratory Design, and he is a regular contributor to Advantage Business Media’s educational webinars.
He has worked on the R&D 100 Awards program for many years, and currently serves on the R&D 100 Awards Committee. Tim has also authored R&D Magazine’s annual Global R&D Funding Forecast for the past 25 years, and continues to write trend reports and feature articles for R&D Magazine and Laboratory Design.
As Consulting Editor, Tim also writes a weekly column—R&D Index: Market Pulse—for the R&D Daily e-Newsletter at the top of each week. The R&D Index is a weekly stock market summary of the top 25 industrial R&D spenders involved in research and development, including pharmaceutical, automotive, ICT, and organizations who have invested a cumulative total of more than $170 billion in R&D in 2014, or approximately 10.8 percent of all the R&D spent in the world by government, industries and academia combined, according to R&D Magazine's 2014 Global R&D Funding Forecast. The companies chosen for the R&D Index have large sophisticated internal and global R&D organizations, with each company investing between $4.3 and $11.7 billion annually in their R&D efforts.
Tim has launched multiple B-to-B publications and their associated print and electronic business media products, including Drug Discovery & Development, Laboratory Design Newsletter, Genomics & Proteomics, Laboratory Design Handbook, and R&D Executive. He also managed R&D Magazine's highly regarded Scientist of the Year, Innovator of the Year and Laboratory of the Year programs for more than 25 years. Tim and his editorial teams have received more than 25 national editorial awards. He has a BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from Lewis University.
