Today’s World is consumed by more data than ever before—giving rise to the term “big data.” Industries of all types have had to adapt to this data inundation, and scientists are no exception. The scientific industry has had to learn how to best collect, analyze and act upon said data. Worldwide, the big data/analytics sales market is expected to grow 50 percent from 2015 to 2019, totaling more than $187 billion come 2019 (IDC). Currently, the largest big data segment is professional services, which represents around two-fifths of the total market and generates around 10 billion U.S. dollars annually.
