Gene editing technique CRISPR-Cas9 has heralded in what has been called the “Golden Age of Genetic Engineering.” Since the technique exploded onto the mainstream research scene two years ago, there have been countless advances, discoveries and refinements to both CRISPR and related methods. What’s especially impressive about CRISPR is how it’s transforming the work of so many scientists in so many different fields. At this early juncture, the applications seem endless. As research into CRISPR increases, so too will our understanding of the crucial biological mechanisms that drive human bodies on an everyday basis.
