Dow BETAFORCE 9050M composite bonding adhesives for automotive mass production is a novel example of applying new substrates and a new adhesive technology to realize multi-material mix body structure design to minimize body weight. The innovation improves stiffness of the body design by using a higher modulus adhesive technology and a stiff carbon fiber composite. It also improves environmental resistance compared to other design solutions by using a non-conductive adhesive solution, and reduced cycle times, enabled by novel adhesive technologies capable of heat accelerating curing processes and latent ambient temperature cure. Weight-saving composites are gaining traction in automotive design as fuel efficiency becomes the most important driver. Composites cannot be joined by traditional methods used in auto production, so BETAFORCE 9050M composite bonding adhesives were designed to meet the challenges of automotive bonding in a robust, safe and efficient way.
