IBM Q is an industry-first initiative to build commercially available universal quantum computing systems for business and science. Quantum computing is emerging as a technology and IBM is making early-access systems available for commercial and business uses. IBM Q also allows IBM to further develop the IBM Quantum Experience, a one-of-a-kind platform that enables scientists and science enthusiasts all over the world to explore quantum computing using IBM’s quantum computing hardware. Through the IBM Q initiative, IBM leverages its deep expertise in superconducting qubits, complex high performance system integration and scalable nanofabrication processes from the semiconductor industry to help advance quantum computing systems. IBM Q systems work in concert with IBM’s portfolio of classical high-performance systems, and cognitive systems, like Watson, to address problems that are currently unsolvable, but hold tremendous untapped potential. IBM Q also provides access to the Quantum Experience, enabling anyone to connect to IBM’s quantum processor via the IBM Cloud, run algorithms and experiments, work with individual quantum bits, and explore tutorials and simulations around what might be possible with quantum computing.
