ACMZ Cast Aluminum Alloys are a new class of cast aluminum alloys that boast improved castability and mechanical property superiority at elevated temperatures. The principal application for this product is for automobile engines, particularly the engine’s cylinder head. ACMZ alloys were developed to address the demanding fabrication and performance requirements of an automotive cylinder head in present and future higher efficiency engines. ACMZ alloys have castability comparable to or better than existing commercial alloys and provide a nearly 100°C advantage in equivalent mechanical properties compared to existing cast aluminum alloys for automotive engines. ACMZ alloys have already been cast successfully to make complex cylinder heads and very soon will be providing a unique solution for the production of tens of millions of automotive cylinder heads annually. Additionally, ACMZ alloys can extend the use of lightweight aluminum alloys to higher temperature and stress applications that currently use iron-based alloys and others.
