HOSS: Hybrid Optimization Software Suite is the first to combine finite-element and discrete-element methods with an all-regime computational fluid dynamics solver to generate accurate simulations of complex multiphysics problems, such as those involving materials deformation and failure. HOSS is a game changer when it comes to material deformation, fracture and failure analyses. For example, HOSS simulations can be used to predict the dynamic responses of buildings, structures and windows to loads that can generate second-hand injuries, such as explosion, impact, etc., thereby enabling modern engineers to devise appropriate mitigation strategies. With HOSS, scientists around the world now have a platform for conducting “virtual experiments” that help model and analyze phenomena that cannot be readily produced or studied in a laboratory or real-world setting.
