High-rise housing and offices are increasing the demand for an improvement of transport efficiency and safety. The new Active Roller Guide System generates a feedback control force calculated based on the vibration of an elevator car as well as the vibration of an elevator car frame. The force acts on the elevator car frame to suppresses the lateral vibration of the elevator car to less than half. The system generates the vibration control force automatically calculated according to the vibration, which is measured by the vibration sensor installed on both the elevator car and elevator car frame. In order to generate the vibration control force automatically, it is important to guarantee stability and vibration-damping properties. The reason is that the stiffness of the rubber vibration isolator installed between the elevator car and elevator car frame changes due to aging and the elevator car weight changes by number of passengers.
