The Muse Auto CD4/CD4% System is a unique, small-footprint miniaturized flow cytometer that enables multidimensional cellular analysis—the instrument provides measurements of CD4 T cell counts and CD4% of lymphocytes in whole blood using a highly simplified touchscreen-based interface. The use of automated acquisition and gating software on the instrument enables users with limited expertise to easily obtain test results important for T-cell monitoring and is currently marketed in parts of Africa where HIV is prevalent. The Muse AutoCD4/CD4% is CE marked for IVD use and is marketed for use in Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Angola and South Africa. Of the more than 35 million people infected with HIV worldwide, 25 million live in Africa and many of them lack access to regular medical care as treatment is often hindered by the long distances from villages to urban hospitals or clinics. This technology was designed to fill that healthcare gap.
