Sid Nag is Director, Cloud Technologies at Gartner in the Technology and Service Provider Research organization, and is focused on cloud services and cloud technologies from both vendor and service provider perspectives. He is a recognized industry speaker at forums such as Cloud Expo, TM Forum, Dell World, VMworld, and Cisco Live.
His areas include cloud market trends, forecast and analysis, strategy, and cloud transformation. He also focuses on emerging trends, such as cloud service brokerage and the cloud marketplace for all segments of the cloud business. His expertise spans public, private, hybrid and community clouds. Among other cloud-related coverage, Mr. Nag is the Chief Forecaster for the Gartner Cloud Forecast and Cloud Analysis research program. Mr. Nag is also a member of the Gartner Cloud Leadership Council.
Mr. Nag came to Gartner from Dell, where he held the role of Director of Enterprise Strategy, driving strategic direction for initiatives with major technology partners and system integrators around cloud, virtualization and integrated systems. While at Dell, he also spent two years as Director of Product Management and Marketing for Cloud Services and Networking Consulting Services. Prior to joining Dell, Mr. Nag spent six years at Cisco in various leadership roles, focused on competitive strategy, business development, and technology sales.
During his career, Mr. Nag was the Founder and CEO of Prominence Networks, a startup focused on software-defined networking and collaboration technologies. He took Prominence to an exit after seven years, resulting in a sale of the company. Mr. Nag started his career at AT&T Bell Labs, where he held various leadership roles in engineering, research and business development. He holds 12 issued patents in the networking and cloud space.
Mr. Nag holds a B.S. in Engineering from IIT Bombay and an M.S. in Computer Science from Penn State.
