Electrofracturing Test System for Water-Free Reservoir Stimulation contributes to securing the nation’s supply of clean energy from natural gas, and provides important information to fielding water-free fracturing technology. The invention allows industry to systematically evaluate electrofracturing on all lithologies—a non-water-based, “greener” rock fracturing/stimulation compared to fresh-water-intense hydrofracturing. Domestically, water use minimization is critical for resource and environmental conservation. Abroad, this technology may enable resource stimulation in water-barren environments. Such countries could then use cleaner/greener resources to generate energy. This research will assist in setting the United States at the forefront of a new, environmentally friendly shale-gas production technology through waterless stimulation of natural gas reservoirs.
